Identifying Your Target Area
Sessions:
Session 5
Date:
Thu, 10/20/2011 - 6:30pm
Description:
How well a church knows its community directly determines its level of impact. As the community catalyst, you should know more about your community than anyone else. You must know who lives there, why they live there, how they got there, what problems they face now, what they will face over the next ten years, etc. This class will give you resources and practical examples for identifying your area of focus for your church.
Homework:
- In the Forum, use the resources and information from the class to accurately assess your target area. Post your findings in the forum and comment on another post. Remember to focus on your assessment of the community rather than the mission of the church. Understand the context before addressing its needs.
- In the Forum, post how you will work to keep your view of your target area a context for people to come to know Jesus rather than an obstacle.
- In the Forum, post a brief history of your community. When and why was it founded? What was its economic, security, and knowledge base?
- In the Forum, post the top 5 things you learned from Community of Kindness and how they will influence your church plant.
